Sma' Shot Cottages c. 1840

sma shot cottagesThe terrace of houses, of which the Sma' Shot Cottages is a part, was originally built as houses for the millworkers in the St. Mirren Mill of 1792. A square of houses was built outside the mill, known at the time as St. Mirren Square. The Cottages are part of what now remains. The Artisan's House was added on in 1845. The foreman and his wife lived in the Artisan's house and had four rooms. The rest of the building comprised of four flats with two rooms each.
